Established in 1848, Auburn is located just 30 miles northeast of Sacramento on Interstate 80 in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The former mining town is now the Placer County seat and is home to approximately 12,500 residents. Lake of the Pines is located along Highway 49, just across the Placer County line in Nevada County. Both areas have the advantage of being above the valley fog and below the Sierra snow line, but are just a short drive from recreation areas. The Lake Tahoe area and all of its recreational opportunities are just 85 miles from Auburn. Other ski areas and hiking trails are nearby as are Lake Clementine and Folsom Lake for boating and fishing. A variety of festive annual events provide fun and entertainment for the whole family, such as Auburn’s Wild West Stampede Week and Rodeo, the Mountain Mandarin Festival and the community festival. The real estate offerings of Auburn and Lake of the Pines are varied, with a wide selection of single-family homes as well as condominiums and townhouses available.
