Lake of the Pines
There's Gold in them thar hills and it lies between the Golden Dome of Auburn and the Gold rush town of Grass Valley. It's one of California's best kept secrets in the Sierra Foothills above the fog line of the Sacramento Valley and below the Snow line. This gives Lake of the Pines (LOP) a wonderful year round climate of cooler temperatures in the summer and little snow in the winter.
The area that is LOP was originally the property of Cal Neva who built a hunting lodge and a couple's home for their entertainers to relax between engagements. In the 60's it was purchased, a man made 5 mile lake was built and the dream started to become a reality. Today the community has 2000 homes, a world class golf course with driving range, 8 lighted tennis courts, an Olympic size pool, 8 parks surrounding the lake each with BBQ, beach and bathrooms plus a dog park with its own pond.
Lake activity involves water skiing, wake boarding, pontoon boats, canoes, kayaks, paddle boards, party boats and all types of watercraft with the exemption of jet skis. In a nutshell it's fun, fun, fun.
LOP has built a new Sports Grill that overlooks the lake with bocce ball courts, golf pro shop attached. Breakfast and lunch are served daily and the bar is open until 8. Also built last year was the new clubhouse which houses the Magnolia Grill and Bar. It's a great environment for parties or to just have a wonderful lunch on the deck on the water. For the major holidays a delicious reasonably priced buffet is always served so you don't have to spend all day cooking and cleaning...just enjoy your life living in paradise. The 4th of July is the crown jewel of the holidays with parades, music, games for the kids, BBQ and all day fun topped off with a great fireworks show on the dam.
Home prices range anywhere from the low $200K to multi million dollars estates on the water. Home prices remain stable due to the fact that the Pleasant Ridge school district located outside the gate is rated #2 in Northern California behind only Marin county. There is a newer Bear River High school, Magnolia middle school and cottage elementary school with buses that come into LOP to pick up and drop off the students. There is also Lake Forest Christian School which is highly rated nearby.
The people are very friendly and you'll enjoy numerous activities, clubs, parties and basically you'll feel you're on vacation every day.
Come discover the Gold in thar hills known as Lake of the Pines a super secret that is waiting to be found and lived.
